It is imperative that you put the moisture back into your hair on a weekly basis to ensure your hair stays healthy, smooth and super shiny.
But how do they work? ... I'm glad you asked.
When the outer layer of hair, known as the cuticle, is damaged, the scales don’t lie flat and give the appearance of frizzy, dry hair. A deep conditioning treatment will condition the cuticle and help the scale-like cells to lie flat, giving the hair a smoother and shinier appearance.
Deep conditioning treatments can be part of a regular hair regimen. They strengthen, detangle and help prevent split ends.
How do I apply a Hair Mask at home?
First shampoo your hair, then gently towel dry to remove excess water. You would apply the deep conditioning treatment halfway down the shaft, moving towards the tips of your hair. Then spread any product that remains on your hands from the roots to the tips. Pay special attention to the tips, which tend to get drier than the rest of your hair. If necessary, use a wide-toothed comb to distribute the product, wrap your hair in a towel to help generate some warmth which allows it to get absorbed into your hair more easily. Allow the product to penetrate for at least 10 mins. Then once you have rinsed the mask out of your hair you want to apply a conditioner to lock in the moisture and protect the hair.
One other tip - a lot of people don’t realize that you should also apply a conditioning treatment whenever you go in the sea to help protect it from the salt. So remember to pack some in your bag next time you head to the beach!
