Use Colour To Add Character to Your Hair

We often Colour our hair to create a different look, or to cover grey hair or to brighten our existing colour. Colour can also be used to add more vibrancy, richness, and texture to your hair style. It is an excellent way to accentuate a hairstyle and add interest to our hair. Hair Colour is used to give hair body & texture as well.

When choosing which kind of Colour is best suited for you there are many things to consider, such as your hairstyle, head shape, skin tone, your lifestyle, and YOUR style. You also need to take into consideration how consistent you are or can be in visiting your Salon/Stylist.

There are many ways in which Hair Colour can be applied to give different effects:

TEMPORARY HAIR COLOUR
Temporary hair dye often known as wash out hair colour coats only the outside of the hair shaft. On your next shampoo, the new colour will wash out and your hair will return to its natural shade. A temporary colour allows you to experience a new hair colour without any major commitment. A lot of times its used for funs events etc. Please note you should know that damaged hair that has been dyed with temporary hair colour can appear stained after continued use over time.

SEMI & DEMI-PERMANENT COLOURS

These colours are ideal for clients who do not want to commit to a Permanent Colour. They are deposit Colours only and will not alter the natural or underlying pigment of your hair. Semi-Permanent Colours will not lighten the hair as there is no ammonia or peroxide present. The benefits of a Semi-Demi Permanent Hair Colour are to add tone, shine, and richness to the hair, as well as blending 50% or less grey hair. These Colours will last 4 – 6 weeks when the hair is cared for by using proper professional salon products. Since the Colour fades out gradually, there is no re-growth line of demarcation and therefore you can change your Colour easily.

VEGETABLE DYES
These dyes are a good option if you have previously experienced an allergic reaction when dyeing your hair (do not forget to get a spot test!). Vegetable dyes can be beneficial for those with dandruff or other scalp disorders as they can deposit colour and help cover a percentage of grey for most people.

PERMANENT COLOUR, BLEACH, LOW -LIGHTS & HI-LIGHTS

Root colour, Full colour, Money Piece, Slicing, Shadowing, Hi-lights, Low-lights, Ombre & Balayage to name a few are all different methods that Permanent Colours can be applied to permanently alter the pigments of the hair. This gives you and your Stylist a wide range and the flexibility of Colour choices. Also, Permanent Colours give the best results in grey coverage of more than 50% grey hair and can be used for several different levels of lift (lightening) in your hair colour. Not every look requires all-over colour and this is where low/hi-lights etc can come into play.

TO MAINTAIN HEALTHY HAIR
To maintain your new coloured hair, we always recommend that you use professional colour-enhancing, sulfate free shampoos & conditioners and have regular trims to keep your hair in good health. Also depending on the condition of your hair it is recommended to receive regular Intense Deep Treatments after these services. We also advise you to re-schedule your colour touch-ups for every 4 – 8 weeks depending on the rate of your hair growth and the method of colouring used to maintain it.
